Neandertal
Neandertal us™ explores human history through universal olfactory profiles that exist across many cultures.
Neandertal us invites self-reflection: What makes us who we are? What cultural patterns did we create for ourselves over the course of history? Neandertal us is a universal celebration of life; a distillation of our collective journey to what we know now as modern human.
A familiar yet contemporary fragrance, Neandertal us contains spices, greens, and fruits foraged from natural environments used throughout history for ceremonies, remedies, culinary purposes and perfumery. Deeper, smokier tones such as vetiver, sandalwood, oud, and musk create a well-rooted familiarity and sense of security, while a citric and green woody profile creates energy within them.
Neandertal us and them form a visual and conceptual pair that elicit a thought-provoking, olfactory experience, which speaks to our ancestral sense of belonging while addressing the tension created by one of mankind’s oldest and simplest understandings of identity. An ageless notion, in a constant state of flux, that we engage with everyday. It is an issue that carries as much weight today as it has throughout human history.
Top: Bergamot, Orange, Elemi, Pink Pepper, Black Pepper & Eucalyptus.
Heart: Rose, Cardamom, Frankincense & Geranium.
Base: Vetiver, Hyraceum, Labdanum, Myrrh, Cypriol, Cade, Oud, Tree Moss Absolute, Sandalwood Oil, Musk.
Neandertal
Neandertal light is in stark contrast to Neandertal dark, a journey which explores concepts of olfactory dissonance.
Radiant and expansive Neandertal light concentrates on the present and as such, possesses a linear and harmonious structure.
Hinoki oil is expanded with muted green notes creating a horizontal landscape, an olfactory still-life representation of nature.
The binding quality of orris gives Neandertal light rigidity, form and cohesiveness within the structure. This binding quality produces a powerful resulting force, encapsulating time and the space around us.
Leather and ambergris add unparalleled natural beauty and familiarity, displaying both power and magnetism.
A contemporary portrait of the Neandertal mystery, this fragrance captures a suspended snapshot in time.
Each bottle is handmade by the artist Kentaro Yamada.
Each of our 90ml stoneware bottles is uniquely numbered digitally using an NFC chip to ensure its provenance. Scan your bottle using the Neandertal app on iPhone or any NFC-enabled Android device to see more information.
Top notes: Hinoki, Coriander, Galbanum & Violet Leaf
Heart notes: Orris & Metallic accord
